Who is responsible for my Ford Focus suffering from a blocked fuel filter?

I recently had a problem with my 2-year-old Ford Focus diesel whereby the car went into limp mode on the outside lane of a dual carriageway. The eventual diagnosis, some two weeks later, was that the fuel filter was blocked caused by wax in the diesel. To my surprise, I was charged £113 for this to be rectified. Have you heard of this problem and am I able to get recompense from either Ford or the fuel retailer?

Standard problem caused by the switch to biofuels. Biofuels are more likely to wax (emulsify) in cold weather and that's what blocked the fuel filter. You can't blame Ford for that. You might be able to lay the blame on the fuel retailer for not using an anti-waxing additive during the cold weather
