Which spacious car to replace our Citroen Xsara Picasso?

Our 2005 Xsara Picasso has the 'seven year glitch' (suspension and steering problems, synchromesh failure, head gasket blown) so it is clearly time to offload. Could you please recommend an alternative with comparable features, e.g. five good seats, high driving position, cavernous boot for trips to the recycling centre, and what might be a secondhand price?

Nothing actually replaced the much-loved Xsara Picasso with its five separate sliding seats, apart from a newer Picasso, or a Citroen Berlingo Multispace, or a 7-seater such as a Ford S-Max or Peugeot 5008. Second generation Berlingo Multispaces cost from around £5500 used or £6250 with diesel engines.
