Do modern safety measures counteract an increase in wheelspin?

I refer to your reply regarding cruise control during heavy rain. My question is, wouldn't the safety measures in a modern car counteract any increase in sudden wheelspin by cutting power to the wheels that are spinning?

It will depend on the car. But in a BMW F30 3-Series, the cruise will deactivate if the systems detect any slippage of the rear wheels through aquaplaning. It is also connected to the steering angle sensor, so if you go into a bend on cruise and the system thinks you are going too quickly, it will cut your speed through the bend, then accelerate back to the selected speed once you are out of the bend. This definitely did not happen on the previous E90 BMW 3-Series
