Which large estate car offers good luggage space and reliability?

We have had a Mercedes-Benz V-Class Fashion 220 diesel since 2000 which was converted by Murvi to a camper. At 80,000 we are considering replacement due to rust and continuing cost of repairs. Our first thoughts were an older Mercedes E-Class Estate (we need substantial luggage room) but it does look somewhat dated. We are not looking for all the extras now available.

The Mercedes-Benz W211 E-Class from the 2006 facelift to 2009 have a very good reliability record, coming eighth equal in the latest Warranty Direct Reliability Index based on warranty claims analysis.
