How can I stop mice damaging my car?

I live in the country and with that comes furry little friends. My last two cars have incurred damage due to mice getting under the bonnet and nibbling air conditioning pipes and electrics. I have Googled the problem and contacted local and national pest controllers but to no avail. Have you come across this issue and if so what are the solutions? Maybe there is a gap in the market?

Two readers from Florida have recommended open-weave sacks of mothballs. Another recommends 1cm chicken wire spread over the ground underneath the car which, apparently, rodents will not walk over. But the best solution is ultrasonic repellers. One supplier is: www.pestcontrolshop.co.uk/
