Which luxury Mercedes-Benz should my partner buy?

My partner is driving me to distraction, he always said when he retired he would buy the youngest S-Type or similar F-Type. Now retired he cannot make up his mind whether to keep his Volvo S40 saloon or go for his dream. He is worried that as his mileage will now only be about 5000 per year it won't be worth the expense. Alternatively, can you advise on a suitable alternative that will keep this grumpy old man and me happy?

2008 Jaguar XF 3.0 V6 petrol models are now down to around the £10,000 mark at auction. That's what he should go for. The diesels are much more expensive and successive short runs ruins them.
