My Honda Accord's rear tyres are breaking up after just 12,000 miles - should I push for a refund?

I bought two Bridgestone tyres two years ago. They have covered 12,000 miles and the side walls on both tyres have developed cracks in bands about 1.5cm wide around the circumference of both tyres. The tyres were made in Thailand in 2006 (i.e. already two years old when supplied to me) and are fitted to the rear wheels on my Honda Accord. The Bridgestone tyres on the front wheels have the same specification and have covered 31,000 miles without any signs of cracks on the side walls. These tyres are six years old and were made in Spain. I need to replace the front tyres soon due to reduced tread and because of the cracks on the rear tyres will need to replace them too. I have complained to the tyre supplier about the premature wear on the rear tyres and have asked for a partial refund. They have rejected my complaint.

Might be a suspension geometry problem, but the cracks should not have occurred at just four years old and that should be the basis of your complaint to Micheldever. I suggest you move the matter on to be settled in the small claims track of the County Court. That might provoke a settlement.
