Dashboard trim melting

A section of the dashboard trim on my Volkswagen Tiguan has melted/disfigured as a result of an air freshener making direct contact with it. When I informed Volkswagen they claimed this is not covered under warranty.

When I checked the label of the air freshener there is a caution statement related to staining but no statement about melting or cracking of the dashboard which is the case with my car. What should I do?

No you don't have any claim against Volkswagen, but you do against whoever sold you the corrosive air freshener.
