Are Vauxhall Corsas prone to gearbox faults?

I'm having problems with the gear selector on my 2007 Vauxhall Corsa: it sticks in park and can take five minutes of wiggling to free it. Is this a common fault on this model?

In our car-by-car section we've had a problem reported of 1.4 torque converter auto shift quadrant locking in 'Park'. It can be released by lifting the rubber boot over the mechanism and inserting a pencil in the locking mechanism.
