Bought a clocked car - what can I do?

Nine months ago I bought an Audi A4; I did a HPI check and the mileage looked ok. I now want to sell the car, but have discovered that the mileage on the MoT certificate has been altered with reduced mileage.

I understand I could have done more checks, but the service book and the MoT looked genuine at the time and I trusted the sell. What can I do?

All an HPI check does is give you the mileage figures submitted by the MoT stations to the DVLA. There is no guarantee that they are accurate. If you can prove that you were sold a car with a faked mileage then you can sue the vendor.

If it was a dealer, report the criminal offence and sue in the small claims track of the county court. if it was a private vendor sue in the small claims track of the county court for breach of contract.
