Thinking of buying a Jaguar XJ8 convertible

I'm thinking of buying a Jaguar XK8 convertible, but can't stretch to the 5.0-litre, which model/year would be best and what should I look out for?

The current shape 4.2 is okay, but the 5.0 is better. You don't need the supercharger. There's a few quirks with the first year's production, with issues like the aerial.
