What car to replace my Accord?

I own a Honda Accord 2.0 V-TEC petrol and I want to buy a new car. I have upto £7k to spend. I would like a diesel for economy as I do a 30 mile return daily with 24 miles of it on motorway.

I have enjoyed the reliability from a Honda but would like something else to mix it up for myself. I have looked either a SEAT Leon or a Volkswagen Passat (2005 onwards) what would you recommend or is there anything else for me to consider? I am 29 so insurance is tricky too, although I am protected with 6 years NCB.

Don't go near a 2005-2011 Passat unless it's the 1.9 diesel. I'd go for a Honda Civic 1.8iSE. They're chain cam. They can do 45mpg. They're spacious. And they don;t come with any diesel problem areas, such as DPFs, DMFs, EGRs and turbos.
