Which Scirocco to buy?

I am looking at a Volkswagen Scirocco 2.0 TDi BlueMotion Tech 3dr DSG at the moment, and someone has pointed out the problems with the DSG automatic (reliability and mpg).

The regular Scirocco itself seems to get good reviews, however just concerned about the real reliability and fuel usage of the DSG.

Also, some of these used models come with 19" alloys - I presume these are easily damaged and costly to repair?

I would not buy this car. But I would buy a Scirocco 2.0TFSI manual on 18" wheels. Yes, 19" wheels with 35 profile tyres reduce steering 'feel', badly affect the ride quality, are vulnerable to damage from potholes, wear faster and cost a fortune to replace. High price to pay for the bling.
