How can discolouration from bird lime be removed?
I was recently cleaning my car when I noticed that there was a small area (about two inches square) of discolouration in the black roof. Being unable to remove it by cleaning or polishing, I took it back to the garage from which I bought it earlier in the year. The garage has advised me that the discolouration has been caused by bird lime. Can you advise me if there is any way to remove such discolouration?

I thought not because, according to Autogylm, it is caused by the relative temperatures of the paint under the bird lime and the paint around it. All bird lime should be removed as soon as possible with a wet cloth. However, it later transpired that the body shop was able to remove the marks in the paint by means of a heat treatment.
