Belt failure in a Citroen C8 - excellent customer service from Citroen.

The cambelt of my daughter’s Citroen C8 broke at 99,000 miles and repairs were likely to cost us more than £2000. For normal use, the handbook recommends changing at 100,000 miles. Otherwise, for "severe" usage, 50,000 miles. We have owned the car from new, and it is only used as family transport. You thought the chances of Citroen providing some goodwill were very slim, but having contacted Citroen HQ, we transferred the C8 to our Citroen dealer who phoned my daughter three days later to say that Citroen will pay parts and labour for the full repair. They also have given her a courtesy car for the duration. What service.

That is extraordinarily generous and I am frankly amazed. Turns out there is a design fault with C8s that allows rainwater to drain from the windscreen onto the timing belt leading to contamination and consequent early deterioration of the belt. But good for you.
