The ESP light on my SEAT Leon has come on - should my dealer repair it?

My 27,000 mile 2007 SEAT Leon 2.0 petrol FR, main dealer purchased and serviced, had just passed MoT when the ESP light on the dash appeared. In the past you have stated that this is a known VAG problem. The SEAT dealer has quoted £400 all in to sort. Do you feel this is a satisfactory as this is a known VAG problem issue and should VAG replace this unit FOC as a gesture of goodwill?

£400 is a normal, fair dealer price. www.sinspeed.co.uk can repair the module for £225 all in, but it has to be removed from the car first and refitted after, which accounts for the other £175. Yes, I think the dealer should at least swallow its labour charge for the job. Your MoT was in December 2011. Since 1 January 2012, an ESP light on has meant an MoT failure.
