Is my Citroen C1's clutch fault a known defect?

I have a 2007 Citroen C1 with 22,000 miles and the clutch has become a little 'sticky'. I mentioned this at the annual service and was told that it had been lubricated, but that if it persists then the gearbox would have to come out. Checking online, clutch problems seem to be a known fault, but I would value your take on the solution.

Yes, it is a known fault on 2005 - 2009 C1s, 107s and Aygos. From 2009 a bigger, stronger clutch was fitted. The gearbox has to come out to replace the clutch.
