4x4 for £10,000

I am looking to buy a 4x4. It will be used for commuting and general driving but also going up and down a mile long pot holed drive four times a day and for camping trips.

I have a budget of £10,000 and reliability and running costs are really important to me. I like Land Rovers but am concerned about reliability. Would consider VW/BMW types but not if they are going to get knackered going up and down the drive.

Think that Land Cruisers are too bulky/heavy/juicy. What would you recommend?
