My brand new car has damaged paint - what do I do?

Bought new C3 Picasso on 11/04/13, drove it home and on salesman’s recommendation returned to the garage on 18th to have GardX coating.

In between time the car was just sitting on drive as I still have my old car for 2 weeks and had been using that rather than the new car.

When I went to collect it today and to pay for GardX we found a dink half a cm and about a dozen marks over the car that had gone through to the white undercoat in clusters of pinhead size.

The sales man is saying it was probably done on my home journey, lorry chips etc. It’s approximately 14 miles but I know this is not the case as I drove really carefully with my new car.

He has told me he will speak to his boss on Monday. I left the car there as I was so disgusted. How do I stand legally now? My neighbours checked out the car with me on day of collection and it was fine. I am a pensioner and I think the paint was faulty.

Strangely , where the dink is it doesn't show white, it has definitely been painted in a different colour blue paint. This is a brand new car! The car is ink blue metallic - a new colour for this year.

If the garage has damaged it then they know and they also know you can take it to a body shop and get a signed professional opinion that it has been damaged and repainted. So stand your ground and don't roll over.
