What car for my high mileage?

I do around 30k miles a year, with about 19k being motorway work miles and the rest being a mix with mountain bikes and climbing trips etc.

Ideally I'd like a fairly efficient 4wd as live in a rural area but space is important so a small estate or something similar. I'm thinking second hand and don't mind getting something 2-4 years old to prevent losing too much in depreciation.

What would you recommend? I have up to about £16/17k to spend. Ideally it should achieve mid 40s mpg. Winter tyres and 2wd also an option!

Honda CR-V 2.2i CTDI, which puts it 2009 or earlier so you can lower your budget.
