Hard ride on my Z4

I like my 2004 Z4 but would like it more if it had a softer ride. It has Bridgestone runflats 255 35 18 on the back and 225 40 18 on the front. Would 225 45 17 alloys all round with conventional tyres make a worthwhile difference or would I have to change the suspension as well? Am I right in thinking the latest Z4 has softer suspension?

225/45s all round might help. Bit more oversteer. Might need the steering angle sensor re-setting and these cars had early development electric power steering which never had much feel.
