Ford S-Max Auto : Diesel vs Petrol ?

I bought an S-Max 2.0 TDCI Auto six years ago for motorway commuting but then promptly moved to rural Dorset instead. I love the S-Max and plan to get another, having done 70,000 largely problem-free miles in the diesel (a mix of short local runs and longer 1.5 hour round trips at 40-60mph).

Am I better going for the diesel 2.0 TDCI Auto (140PS) again, or would I be better switching to the petrol 2.0 203PS EcoBoost Auto? The petrol appears to be about £600 cheaper for the same spec (via DriveTheDeal)

I know Ford's 2.0 TDCi engine is widely praised; are there any major maintenance/repair downsides with their 2.0 EcoBoost (with the Auto gearbox)?

The 2.0 203PS Ecoboost is chain cam and a blast to drive. Bit it and the 2.,0TDCI now have Ford/Getrag's Powershift dual clutch automatic transmission. No problems so far as long as the DPF remains clear.

And on a country driven car you should not have any DPF problems with the diesel. test and video 203PS
