Should we replace our 1998 Honda Civic?

My husband I are considering replacing our 1998 Honda Civic. It’s just made it through it’s MoT and he is desperate to keep it. I am not so enthusiastic. There were a few points of advice and the bushes are almost completely done for.

The drive in the car is slowly getting worse and we need somebody to tell us that scrapping it is the right thing to do! We’re about to start a family and don’t think a 15 year old car is a great mode of transport. Help!
