New Ford Galaxy: serviced at 15k runs out of oil at 25k

I had my car serviced at 15,000 miles back in July. The engine started knocking on Monday. I turned it off and rang RAC; they said it had no oil in the engine. So he put oil in and got me to drive it to the dealership.

They are now saying that the engine may need replaced. I just want to know should it burn that much oil in 10,000 miles?

Do you mean 1.6 Ecoboost 160? Or 1.6TDCI 115? I ran a 1.6TDCI 115 in a Mazda 5 for 11 months with no visible oil loss. No reports of excess oil use by either the 1.6 EcoBoost or 1.6TDCI.
