Should the turbo be whistling on a five month old car?

One month ago I bought a three month old Ford Grand C-MAX Powershift. I didn't notice anything during the test drive, which was driven in a busy city location.

Subsequently there is a substantial whining noise coming from the turbo, which is really annoying and very noticeable. The franchised dealer which I bought it from confirmed it was the turbo, but then said it was nothing to be concerned about and that it was 'normal'. I tried a brand new demonstrator, and you could hear it whining a bit - but in my opinion, my car is worse. I've reached the stage where driving the car has become intolerable - as the car whistles its way along the road!

Have you heard of any other reports about whining turbos on Grand C-MAXs?

I'm going to write to Ford this weekend and ask them to have an independent inspection carried out as I cannot believe the car is supposed to be as whiney as this?

When Honda first introduced its 2.2iCDTI that whistled noticeably. Haven't ever noticed it with a Ford 2.0TDCI. I think what you have proposed to do it the right move.
