Buying a used Audi A3

I'm really keen to buy an A3 but my budget is max £5k and I've been looking for a while. There doesn't seem to be much that comes up that is worth looking at for around the 60-80,000 mileage bracket.

I've found a couple of A3's that have done 100,000 miles for around £4500 (trade seller). Is it worth going to have a look at them - both have FSH, cambelt and waterpump changes, one with brake pads changed etc. Is it worth looking at these cars or should I give up on the A3?

I don't really have a lot of time to hold out for the perfect car, so I'm thinking maybe a Golf instead? I would like something that looks good, runs well and can actually move (around sub 10/11 seconds 0-60 if poss, minimum 1.6), will happily take on recommendations!

25% of the price of any used A3 is status, so my advice is that if you cannot afford to pay 25% of the price of a car for status, don't buy a cheap A3. Buy a SEAT Leon instead, because that's the same car underneath.
