Turbo failure - have I any recourse?

I bought a new C4 Grand Picasso diesel car in 2009 and have now done 59000 miles. Every year I had got it serviced by authorised dealers but exceeded the mileage intervals (should have been every 12500 miles but got it done at approximately 17000 miles).

The warranty expired in March 2012. Now the turbocharger has blown and has caused damage to the engine as well and it will cost £8000 to repair. The dealer has contacted Citroen and they have refused to make any contribution on the grounds of inconsistent servicing.

Is there anything else I can do? What are my options? I am very dissappointed at this kind of major problems so soon after the warranty period. I have come to know that this is a fairly frequent problem with this engine.

No. You actually caused this problem by neglecting the servicing of the car. The turbo oil feed pipes get blocked with carbonised oil, starving the turbo bearing of oil and that's why it failed. You may think you saved a bit by neglecting then oil changes. But look what it cost you.
