Optional DPF?

Is it true that the 1.6 HDi 90 engine on the Citroen C3 has an option for a DPF? If so would I be right in assuming you would recommend the one without one?

Up to October 2010 it would have been optional; from then on compulsory. Best to get one without one if you can.
