Tuning chip on a focus diesel

I have a 2002 LX 1.8 TDCi Ford Focus. It goes well but any improvement in performance and economy would help in these expensive times. What is your take on fitting a diesel tuning chip on my motor? AS far as I can see one just replaces the pressure plug after removing the top plastic casing on the engine so it looks quick enough to do but, are they any good?

Don't think there is a miracle cure for a 10 year old car. It will put up your insurance premiums by more than it saves. Change the engine air filter. Run some injector cleaner through the system. And that should bring you a sensible benefit.
