Buying a very quiet car

I have been what I think is a canny buyer of used petrol premium cars - buying something a little unliked and keeping it for several years.

I have had a used Volvo S70 (30% cheaper then the V70) a used S80 (great spec and cheap) and a new VW Touareg V6 petrol from Motorpoint at around half the cost of new from VW.

The latter has been a great car - great to drive, smooth, never in the garage (apart from servicing) and simply took the MPG as an unfortunate running cost.

The Touareg is now five years old and now seems a little extravagant when filling up. I am looking at a four year old 37000 mile "pre-owned" Lexus GS450h at around £18000.

It seems a premium car with great performance for not much money. Even though it is only a a little newer, the added economy and specification makes it very attractive. My usage model is to buy and run for four or five years - would this make a good buy or are there any alternatives? The battery hybrid question seems to be a non issue, but like to have your thoughts!

That's interesting, but a safer choice would be an IS250 automatic for quite a lot less money.
