Estate for big dog and camping family

I am currently running a 56 Mondeo ST Tdci Estate with 46k on the clock.

I'm looking to change for something with the same driving dynamics and load carrying capacity. I'm happy to have an auto, to avoid DMF problems, and not afraid of buying a looked after car, upto 5 years old, with high miles.

The boot must be capable of taking a dog cage that is 36" deep. I'd like to consider a V70, 5 series touring or Audi A6 Avant as they're all capable of going to the moon and back. Your thoughts would be most appreciated.

Mondeo IV 2.0TDCI 6-speed auto, then. The later Powershift will have a DMF, though I have yet to hear of any problems with DMFs on any Mk IV Mondeos.
