Rising cramp
My Volvo XC70 SE D5 AWD is 30 months old and has done 26,500 miles. I've just received two recall notices. One for a software upgrade because the oil level is rising above the max mark that could cause the engine speed to increase after the throttle pedal has been released. A decal will also be stuck in the engine compartment to say the oil level should not exceed 2/3rds between min/max. The other recall is to replace the auxiliary belt tensioner. I had a S80 for five years before this car with a D5 engine and no problems. Any idea what is going on?

The first TSB dates back to 2010 and is because the system to regenerate the diesel particulate filter is dumping too much fuel into the engine, raising the level of oil in the sump. Your previous car probably did not have a DPF. The other TSB is simple routine. A part has been found to be sub standard and Volvo is replacing it.
