Has my Hyundai i20's clutch failed?

Last night I experienced a very strange breakdown in my Hyundai i20. At first the revs were extremely high, making deafening sound but not much else. Soon after, a change of gears became difficult and finally impossible. All of this happened within half a mile. Arriving in front of my house I couldn't engage any gear at all and the car had to be pushed to the drive with the help of kind passing drivers. Could you please advise what went wrong and very roughly how much it would cost?

Reads like the clutch may have burned out, possibly due to an oil leak through the crankshaft end seal onto the clutch. If the end seal did fail then that should be covered by warranty. If the clutch failed through misuse, then about £500.
