Why is the delivery of the new Ford C-Max being delayed?

Any idea what's going on with the new Ford C-Max? I placed an order (1.6 TDCi Titanium 5 door) in mid-February and have still not been given a build date or delivery date by the dealer. I'm hearing excuses about availability of some components due to the Japan earthquake, but have also read that demand has far exceeded expectations and that Ford are trying to increase production on the line in Valencia. Any insights?

Yes, it's selling way beyond Ford's expectations throughout Europe. It's Ford's fault for making it so good, and the fault of the press generally for telling the public. The Tsunami caused problems in getting components of mica-based paints. Production at Valencia is being ramped up. The old model Focus Sport 1.6 petrol and 1.6 diesel was still being made at Valencia as a lead-in model and Ford was planning to end production of it in the autumn. That will free up another line for production of more C-Maxes.
