Why is the emergency call system not working on my BMW?

The emergency call system warning light on my 2018 BMW 530d flicked on and off for a few weeks then came up 'not available' permanently. Checking online it seems probable the dedicated battery in the roof needs replacing. Prices to fix vary widely. My question, what would a BMW main dealer charge to fix it or can any good maintenance garage do this job?

We would suggest contacting several BMW dealerships for a quote, but we would expect it to cost considerably more than an independent garage. Some independent BMW specialists are charging around £200-£250 for this job.
