Is a ceramic coating worth it on a 20 year old car?
I have well maintained and garaged 21 year old Audi A3. It's going well at 100k miles and have decided to pay out for a big service with cambelt, water pump etc. It gets waxed 2 or 3 times a year but I can't decide if I should continue waxing or to go for either a DIY ceramic coating or a professional machine polish and ceramic coating. The latter would cost more than what the car is worth!

Ceramic coatings can offer superior protection to waxes but are more expensive, so while waxes require more frequently application they are cheaper to buy in the first place. Ultimately the question comes down to how much you are prepared to pay - getting a professional to machine polish and then ceramic coat your car will likely result in the best possible finish, but is the most expensive option. If you are confident in your own abilities with detailing you may wish to have the car professionally polished and then apply a ceramic coating yourself, or even invest in your own D/A polisher and do it all yourself. If you plan to keep the car for many years, having your own kit saves money in the long run.

Could you please recommend a car dryer - I don't like leaving a wet car in the garage, especially if it has to stay garaged for a few days.
