Leaking Ford Fusion oil pipe

I have just bought a 2003 Fusion 3 1.6 16v and there seems to be an oil leak coming from the pipe that goes from cam cover to oil cap, as if its a two piece pipe that twist locks together?

But I can move the top half of the pipe with the cap on but can't remove it with fear of breaking something.

Is this a common problem? Can I replace the pipe?

I think you are describing a breather pipe. If so and it is split then yes replace it.
