Leasing a new car - what would you recommend?

I am due a change of car in September/October as my PCP on my Mazda 3 is up and I don't want to buy it outright. I've had it 3 years. I live in Scotland, we've had harsh cold winters and it was absolutely abysmal in the snow and ice - it wasn't even able to get me out of my (level and flat) car park as it was skidding all the time. I also lost control of it on an icy motorway driving at 20mph and crashed into the central reservation.

I need to drive 12-15000 miles a year. Safety is paramount as I have a small daughter who I often drop at nursery. I live in a town 8 miles out of Glasgow. The driving is a mix of motorways, city centre and rural roads.

Do I need a 4x4 crossover or do I need traction control?

I have been looking at the Honda CR-V and the Mazda equivalent model. I would need to lease for 3 years as not enough deposit to but new or second hand.

During the winter from later October until late March you need winter tyres on whatever you buy. I suggest what I use, which are Michelin Alpins.
