MX-5 with a noisy gearbox

I just purchased an six-speed MX-5 2.0 Sport, it's a 2007 model with 10,400 miles on the clock.

I'm conscious of gearbox noise in first, second and third gears, particularly when the gearbox is hot and up a slight gradient.

I mentioned this to the supplying Mazda main dealer who stated that this can happen, particularly with the 6 speed.

I'm under the impression that they will not do anything, even though a full 12 month Mazda warranty applies.

I am not happy(only had car 2 days) and I am considering taking it to another main dealer.

They won't repair/replace just because it's a bit noisy. You could try changing the gearbox oil. Take advice from MX5 forums.
