How can I get an MOT during lockdown if I'm shielding?

My Peugeot 207CC will be due for an MOT and service in February. I normally take it to the Peugeot garage, which is 18 miles away but even if I were to take it to a nearer MOT garage, I'm wondering how I will achieve this. I'm in my 70s and therefore classed as vulnerable and live alone. The garages do not want anyone waiting on their premises for the work to be carried out but how can I return home and back again as we are not allowed to be a passenger in someone else's car during the lockdown and I would not want to take the risk. I do not think the government have considered how difficult it is for vulnerable people in my situation.

If your car is due for an MoT and/or service, you are allowed to take it into a garage as they've been left open for essential business - but it isn't advised to go anywhere that isn't local for anything that isn't essential. It's fair to be concerned, especially as the Gov hasn't extended MoT renewals as they did in the first lockdown. However, I would ring up the garage you have it booked in with and ask if they will drop off and pick up the car for you. I know some places are doing this, Halfords is one off the top of my head. If you can shield and still get the MoT done this way, that would be my advice.

Does lockdown extend MOT due date? Mine is due on 10 January, booked in on 8th. I'm nervous about going anywhere!
