Runout models

I have to hand back the keys to my company car next month, and have started my own business. I need a comfortable motorway cruiser, to do approx 30,000 miles per annum, but do not have a great deal of cash available. I am toying with the idea of buying a £1k to £2.5k quality car of up to 10 years old. I would then keep it for up to a year or until it goes wrong (dependent on cost of repairs) and buy another. Would you recommend this approach? If so, what would be the best buys and from where?

The best older car you can get according to reliable Warranty Direct claims statistics is a 1997 - 2000 Mondeo II. Well within your price bracket. More like £500 - £1,000. Pick them up at part-exchange auctions. Do not be misled into thinking a 'quality' car will be more reliable and cheaper to run. It definitely won't be.
