Here is an excellent example of how VOSA as a governmental organisation can, and does help, motorists:
Dear A.R.,
Thank you for your note to VOSA's webmaster unit, which has been passed to this branch for response. For me to be able to provide you with information you require, I would appreciate it if you would call my on the number below, so that we can discuss your requirements and how we can assist.

But what will VOSA actually do? VOSA did not issue a vehicle safety recall over collapsing Mercedes suspension spring hangers. VOSA did not issue a vehicle safety recall over steering racks tearing away from the bulkheads of Cavaliers, SAAB 900s, SAAB 9-3s and Daewoo Esperos. VOSA did not issue a vehicle safety recall over failed power steering on Vauxhall Merivas (extremely common).
VOSA did not issue a vehicle safety recall over failed Teves Mk 60 ABS/ESP modules on VAG cars, BMWs, Volvos and Mazdas. Yet companies like Honda take it upon themselves to issue a voluntary non-safety related recall of 170,000 Jazz in the UK for a minor fault with the electric window motor.
