What is the advantage and disadvantage of speed/revs gauge/dial being centralised in a car, for example the Yaris, opposed to the normal placement, i.e. directly in front of the steering wheel? I’m asking you because its difficult to find professionals who can describe in English what I need to know.

The Yaris digital speedo is line-of-sight and is easier to read without
refocusing eyes from distance to close-up. It also allows a greater range of usable adjustment of the steering wheel without obscuring any instruments. (We've got two Yaris in the family.) There is no disadvantage, except in driving school cars, which require a separate speedometer for the test examiner.
