Model History

January 0001

Exactly the same vehicle as the excellent Citroen Berlingo Multispace Forte.

Same choice of 75bhp 1.4 litre petrol engine at £9,095 on the road, or 70bhp 1.9 litre XUD diesel at £9,360 on the road. C02 emissions are 168g/km (£140 VED) and 181g/km (£150 VED); combined fuel consumption 40mpg and 41mpg.

Standard features include two huge sliding rear side doors and a gigantic, washing machine swallowing hatchback; drivers airbag, side impact beams, seatbelt pre-tensioners, engine immobiliser, remote central door locking; three-point seatbelts for all three rear passengers; Isofix mountings for two child seats.

Does nothing the Citroen Berlingo Multispace doesn't do, but if you live nearer to a Peugeot dealer than a Citroen dealer it's the obvious choice.

3 year warranty.

Partner Combi Quicksilver from £9,645 has multi-purpose roof with five overhead fixed glass panels, roof mounted air vents and rood storage comparments.

For 2006, previous 1.9 and 2.0 diesels replaced by 75bhp and 93bhp versions of 1.6 HDI. Much more economical. Other improvements for 2006 include side airbags. 2006 improvements resulted in good four star NCAP crash safety rating; three stars for child safety.

What to watch out for

01-01-0001:

See Citroen Berlingo Multispace. As these cars get older they may suffer the same rear suspension pivot wear as Peugeot 405 estates.

On 2.0 HDIs, rubber cushioned timing belt pulley needs replacing at same time as timing belt (60k - 70k miles) otherwise can separate.

Reports of repeated EGR valve failure on 2.0HDI 136, possibly from trying to drive at too low revs. Problem of 1.6 and 2.0 16v diesels slipping into limp home mode put down to throttle butterflies sticking or their spindles wearing prematurely causing them to stick. The throttle position sensor identifies this and sends a message to the ECU to limit the engine to limp home mode.

End of plastic dipstick of 1.6 HDI engine can break and drop into sump requiring removal of sump to retrieve it.

31-12-2012:

'Gong' sound means that car battery is failing to hold sufficient charge and needs to be replaced.
