Bad engine design
Don't recommend getting any ford with a 1.0 engine as they are unreliable and can suffer from total failure. The wet belt design means the belt will disintegrate and block the oil pick up over time. The cost of changing the wet belt is over £2000 at a ford dealership due to 10 hours labour needed, making the car incredibly expensive to maintain as it gets older. My focus has reached 50k with out the engine failing but had the common degas hose failure and the electronic steering rack failed at 30k also common in early mk3s and the clutch and flywheel also failed at a low mileage, the car drives and handles well would have been much better with the older engines and build quality the MK2 had.
