Beware of ABS PUMP and ABS CONTROL UNIT common fault and it's £4000 fix

Beware of common fault with ABS PUMP and CONTROL UNIT!
I leased my Audi A4 Avant the bought it from Audi leasing because I was happy with it. The A4 is beautifully made, smart interior, and drives well. Not as sporty as the BMW 3 but good enough. Lots of space for the family and big boot. Power tailgate is brilliant. I get around 400miles to the tank for mainly motorway miles. Sadly the car only returns 25mpg around town, and the stop/start never seems to work. Great sound system, but I've had problems with the sat nav and handsfree. The big problem I recently experience is the ABS warning light came on the dash, and AUDI have said it's the ABS PUMP and CONTROL UNIT has locked and the initial cost has been reported at £4000. Yes £4000, for one electronic system telling the other to lock. I didn't have a problem with brakes or anything. Be warned, it's a common fault and my car is in good condition with 83k on the clock
