Audi A2 1.4 TDI - Compression ignition fault - sarah!

Hi, please can some advise if a compression ignition fault that results in blue smoke from the exhaust can be fixed ok?

The quote was £500 is this also realisic?

"compression ignition fault " do mean the oil seals have gone on the valves or the rings are worn .Normally blue smoke is oil burning due to a worn engine .I would want a much better description of the diagnosis and a much better description of what they are going to do to rectify it.

But they should have told you what the fault is - not 'compression ignition fault'! What's that supposed to mean? If a mechanic came out with that to me, I would quietly take my car elsewhere, which I think many here would recommend you to do!
