A few questions to raise
was the replacement clutch a remanufactuered or recon clucth ? they may not be too keen to admit that.
If the old clucth burnt out and all the debris wasnt removed from the bellhousing then when the new clucth is operated as a vortex builds up behind the diaphram it sucks all the old clucth dust and debris up and it jams the diaphram in the depressed position so effectivley feels like the new clucth has failed. Very common and seen that done a few times.
Its possible the new clucth was faulty or the diaphram spring brake as soon as it was operated.
You need planty of pictures of the clucth as soon as its removed
