Audi A3 Quattro - 08 plt - Vibration and Drone - Engine Rev related - autumnboy

My daughters A3 Quattro is a 08plt 2.0tdi.

There is a vibration/droning noise at a certain engine rev in any gear, only when accelerating with Turbo boost at around 2200 rpm at times is quite loudish.

But if gently accelerating without any or very little Turbo boost, all is OK.

This vibration/noise appears to be from the rear. Have checked Exhaust mounts, Drive lines and etc all seem secure and intact with nothing worn.

Any clues ???

Could be that the exhaust system is under stress, try slackening the joins and letting the system find its own position and retightening, or it could have been damaged at some time stressing it. Try rattling the system about and see if it touches anything.

Check the engine mounts and the operation of the electron mount/damper if that model has them. Regards Peter
