Audi A3 2.0 tdi 170 2006 - DTC 12296 - markj1978

I have just used a Max scan VAG405 to read the error codes from my Audi A3 2006.
it is showing 12296 but gives no description. does anyone know what this code means?

Is the airbag light on. From another forum "that fault is for passenger side (side airbag seat harness ) you will need to raise the seat and look at the 3 pin yellow connector for the side air bag what you do is just cut the connector out and hard wire the wires to each other ." Regards Peter

No air bag light. This code is in the engine section of the reader though.

Car is running with intermittent cut out at all speeds and hot and cold though.
